Oscar season is upon us! With nominations only weeks away I’ve already started to plot out my Oscar Party menu.  Here’s what I’ve got so far:

The Revenant: gummy bears and bear claws of course!

Spotlight: holy wine and crackers…and Vienna chicken sausages – her hee

Room – 5 year birthday cupcakes

Brooklyn – Irish Stew – that’s an easy one! I’d like to do Italian meatballs too but that might be much

The Martian – latkas (or fries) with red apple sauce or keychup – something red!

Bridge of Spies – Cold War Coffee Crisp bites or something with coffee.  Because it was sooo boring (and coffee was an important export during the war)

The Big Short – make a house out of say sour dough bread filled with spinach dip?

Mad Max Fury Road – apocalyptic food? Beef jerky, ramen, Spam bites

Another trip to the Big Apple – the city that never sleeps, never gets old, and always has a new adventure waiting for me.  But this time I’m making the trip to attend my friend’s wedding, so it’s double the craziness! Once again, I’m staying in the comfort of Brooklyn, but I’m nesting in an old brownstone with frilly decor and restless open windows – the B&B is like a set from a classic movie.  After only a day, I feel as though I’ve moved in and am jogging through the streets with ease.  The possibilities always seem endless – should I hit the city and wander through Central Park and some art galleries?  Vintage shopping in Williamsburg? Explore the quirky stores in Greenwich Village?  I start racking up the food and shopping bills in no time and feel right at home.  There is an energy within me that comes alive in this city, and it wears me out by the end, but it’s a spirit that I love to ignite.

New York City is my home away from home.  Each trip is a new adventure and every time I try to capture the spirit of the city in a new way.  I love walking through Central Park, checking out the latest art exhibits, and of course – discovering new and delicious places to eat – but I adore the coziness of Brooklyn as well.  From vintage shopping to late night chinese food, and of course hanging out with my best friend from university, it is the perfect place to stay when visiting The Big Apple.
